All permit types require electronic fingerprinting
fingerprinting fee is $12.95

ALL license applications incur an IN.gov processing fee of $1.00 plus 2% of the transaction amount added to the price of the service. This is added to the State fee.

Handgun Permit Instructions:

All applications for handgun permits must be started online. Please click on the firearms licensing link on the right hand side of this page to begin your application.


After you complete and submit your online application you will need to schedule and and have your fingerprints scanned electronically.

Please note there is an additional fee for the electrontic fingerprinting.

After you have submitted your application and completed your fingerprinting you may come into our administrative offices 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. to complete your application process. No appointment is necessary.

PLEASE ALLOW AT LEAST 48 - 72 HOURS AFTER YOU COMPLETE YOUR FINGERPRINTING TO COME IN AND COMPLETE YOUR APPLICATION. We cannot process your application until the State receives your fingerprints.

You must be a resident of the City of Columbia City. If you live within the City limits of Churubusco or South Whitley you must complete your application at those respective Police Departments. If you are a resident of Whitley County and reside outside any city limits you must complete your application at the Whitley County Sheriff's Department.
