Employment Application

We are accepting applications at this time.

Applicants must be at least 21 years of age and not older than 40 years of age at the time of appointment.

Applicants must also possess a High School Diploma or equivalent, a valid Indiana Driver's License, must pass a criminal background check, and pass a physical agility test and written test.

Application packets may be picked up at the Columbia City Police Communications Department, 112 S. Chauncey St, or printed out using the EMPLOYMENT APPLICATION link above.

Physical Agility Standards

Each applicant will be required to perform, at a minimum, the following standards:

Vertical Jump - 16 Inches

One Minute Sit-ups – 29

300 Meter Run - 71 Seconds

Minimum Push-ups – 25

1.5 Mile Run - 16 Minutes 28 Seconds

Each applicant may be required to perform an obstacle course including by not limited to a dummy drag and vehicle push.

Benefits
Salary is $63,000 + (after probationary period)

Health, dental and eye insurance.

Health savings account. City supplements $2000 towards your deductible of $3700 for family, $3200 for individual.

Vacation/Personal/Sick time:

You will receive 4 personal days a year.
You will earn 1 sick day per month.
Vacation is earned as follows:
After 1 year of service – 5 days
After 2 years of service – 10 days (years 2 – 4)
After 5 years of service – 15 days (years 5 – 9)
After 10 years of service – 20 days (years 10 – 14)
After 15 years of service – 25 days
We have a take home car program.

Shift differential for 2nd and 3rd shift

Overtime Pay – paid and time and a half

Longevity Pay

Performance Evaluation Bonus

Clothing allowance - $1500.00

Walk-in clinic (available to employee and immediate family)

Paid Holidays (when holiday is worked)
