We are accepting applications for patrol officers at this time.

Applicants must be at least 21 years of age and not older than 40 years of age at the time of appointment.

Applicants must also possess a High School Diploma or equivalent, a valid Indiana Driver's License, must pass a criminal background check, and pass a physical agility test and written test. View this video for an example of the physical agility test. Agility Test Example

Application packets may be picked up at the Columbia City Police Communications Department, 112 S. Chauncey St, or printed out using the EMPLOYMENT APPLICATION link above.

If you are unable to obtain all of the requested documents please submit your application with a note indicating what you are missing and why.

You will be required to pass a physical agility test as well as a general knowledge written test.

Benefits
Salary is $64,000 + (after probationary period)

Health, dental and eye insurance.

Health savings account. City supplements $2000 towards your deductible of $4100 for family, $3400 for individual.

Vacation/Personal/Sick time:

You will receive 4 personal days a year.
You will earn 1 sick day per month.
Vacation is earned as follows:
After 1 year of service – 5 days
After 2 years of service – 10 days (years 2 – 4)
